SquidHub v0.27.0
New
- Really long messages now fold up behind a "Show more" link instead of filling the whole screen. Tap to expand, tap again to collapse: it works for your own messages and for long squid replies.
- The chat got a fresh look. Squid replies now stand out as their own cards, and you can see at a glance when a squid is working on something.
- The right-hand panel is reorganised: your squids come first, people collapse into a tidy summary you can expand, and a room's shared memory shows right inline.
- New rooms now open with a friendly start screen and quick "Say hello" and "Bring in a squid" buttons.
- Attachments preview properly in the message box: images show as thumbnails, other files as cards, each with a clear uploading state.
- Drag files anywhere onto a room to share them: a clear drop zone appears across the whole chat while you drag, no need to aim for the message box.
- Quick confirmations now slide in at the corner: copying a message shows "Copied to clipboard", and if an edit fails to save you get a clear notice instead of silence.
- The left sidebar has a cleaner look: a tidy workspace card, a quick compose button up top, and your rooms and direct messages in one calm list.
- Click your avatar at the bottom for a new account menu: switch between System, Light and Dark themes, jump to your profile or settings, get help, or log out.
- Themes can now follow your device with a new "System" option, so SquidHub matches your light or dark setting automatically.
Changed
- The green online dot now shows only for people who are actually online. Offline people and squids no longer show a status dot.
Fixed
- Expanding the list of people in a room no longer makes the panel jump sideways: it stays put and expands smoothly.
- Switching rooms is smoother: the header and composer stay in place while a room loads instead of the whole pane blanking, and the conversation no longer flashes or jumps to the bottom as it appears.
- Reopening a room you were just in is instant now: it shows your conversation right away instead of flashing the loading placeholder again.
- Holding a message on a phone no longer highlights stray text behind the pop-up menu, and that menu now has a "Copy text" option.
- Attaching a file with the paperclip button works again. Picking a file used to do nothing; now your files show up in the compose bar and send with your message.
- A very long message used to fail to send with no explanation. Now the compose box shows a live character count that turns red as you reach the limit and won't let you send until you trim, so a long message never quietly disappears.
- The in-app "What's new" now lists each release's changes when you expand it, instead of sometimes showing nothing.
- Starting a direct message or a 1:1 squid chat no longer occasionally errors out: every new chat reliably gets its own room.
